An R is much more understated than the GTI in my opinion. And it is super surefooted. Should be nice on those welsh roads. One bit of advice, make certain you don’t get big wheels and get adaptive suspension.

Had adaptive suspension on the Scirocco which was standard so ordered it with the GTD. My son thinks I'm mad as his mate bought an R brand new last year. Month into ownership he stuffed it, just enough damage so it was off the road for a couple of weeks getting repaired. High performance car, low performance driver, not that's he's a youngster as my son is 45.

He must have been pretty crazy in it to manage that. It is very very good at giving feedback regarding its limits etc.
Not saying it’s the case here, but having been part of the scene, and considering the huge discounts and low barriers to “ownership” I have come across some crazy sh*t. Slumping on decent tyres, brakes etc and doing launch control starts in totally inappropriate places.

Just update about my £500 deposit. Garage had sent me an email nearly 50 days ago saying they have agreed to give me back my £500 refund and it will be paid within 28 days. I have not received the refund I sent 2 emails to the company which they have not replied to. I rang them last week they didn’t get back to me and I was told at the time nobody available to speak to me as they were busy with clients.
I will give them another ring later if no joy I will ring citizen advice tomorrow. I remember when I rang citizen advice the other week they said I could cancel the deal as the car condition was not as advertised
I’m enjoying the scirocco it’s a lot more comfortable than the type r I had and heated seats helps my back as I have days where my back hurts as I do manual work in warehouse

You've got the e-mail as evidence of their intent to refund. Send them a letter by recorded delivery giving them a date to settle by. If you don't receive it by that date then it goes to the SCC, or Judge Rinder.
After 50 days my patients would be waring very thin.

I would simply write anotice before action giving them 5 working days to refund the money. In the mean time, get everything together so that in 5 days, you can claim via money claim online. It costs £35, and make them aware that this is the next step forward if they fail to claim. You can also claim interest from the date money is owed to when they settle if you wish. Again make them aware of this.
