Does copper brake pipe only coming in 25 foot lengths or do they do large, say 50 feet etc that garages etc would use?

It will be manufactured in a continuous run and cut to "convenient" lengths, I'm sure a workshop could acquire a reel of hundreds of feet if they desired (probably a manual handling limit of 25Kg per reel).

Like most electric cables you could buy a 100m reel, but that would be wasteful if you only needed 1m (eg. For a cooker install) so the factors will stock a reel and cut customer lengths off. These are usually priced around double the reel rate; some places precut frequently-bought lengths which are priced lower than custom cuts and higher than reel rate.

I was thinking along the same lines, I would imagine that a garage that must uses 100s if not 1000s of feet of it would buy it in at 100 feet plus and machine lift it into place, which the mechanics just unwind off.

Edit
Reason I ask is because 40 feet is a strange amount if it comes in 25 feet roles. If I'm being charged per roll then it should be for 50 feet. If it has come off a roll then I'm being charged for what is used, and then even working at 50% waste that's 20 feet (6m that should be on the van). I would like to think that the mechanics in the dealership who must do this on a regular basis would have a lower waste to used percentage

That does not look like a new copper pipe to me on the NSR but rather the original steel pipe

Unlike this on the OSR

No Pictures of the front as i really dont know where to look at.

That hasn't been changed.

Doesn't look like it does it.Be interesting to see if they put one on the front.

One pipe is definitely copper on the front (where I can get to), the other one looked like the original, but I will crawl back under tomorrow to double check as the front is far less clear to me and I can only see so far

Looks like the OSR is copper and has been replaced at some point but not recently.

Cocksure Publish time 24-11-2019 22:48:24

It's definitely copper, as to the Rest I have to assume that it was them, in which case it is worrying that some of the painted black coating is already gone in one place (but not surprising)
