People who predicted this movie would be better than high school musical WERE WRONG. They were really wrong. In fact, they were so wrong, they should never be able predict anything in their natural-born lives again. Yep, it was that bad.
DisneyChannel said it was a musical. The movie was an awful attempt at being what it was supposed to be. Sure, they were a few (crappy) songs and dance moves throughout Camp Rock, but it didn't have the same concept as a musical! It didn't have that... FEELING. It was just a poor excuse to make more money with their lame albums after the movie and possible clothing line. Those people weren't even dressed for camp! It shouldn't even be called Camp Rock, cause ironically, there wasn't any rock music of any type. That also doesn't include the last song. "WE ROCK!" doesn't count because it has the word, rock in it.
Demi Lovato is played as a painfully shy teenager named Mitchie Torres who wants to go to a camp called Camp Rock. At first, her parents don't have the money to send her off, but eventually, they let her go cause apparently, THEY DO. Anyways, she's taken there and befriends a girl named Caitlyn Gellar (Alyson Stoner) and is also acquainted with the mean girl (Meaghan Jette Martin) and her group of followers (Anna Maria Perez de Tagle and Jasmine Richards). At the same time, a pop-star named Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) is going to the camp to take a break from his super-hard life being famous from a band called "Connect Three." During the movie, he is a spoiled brat and not to mention, a very unconvincing actor.
You would probably think there would be more Jonas Brothers time. You were ripped off! Nick and Kevin Jonas were only about 5 minutes of the movie. And as they only had 5 minutes of their screen time, they played horrible as actors. Nick was too serious and dull, he was just a pretty face to look at. Kevin on the other hand, was quite the opposite. He was STUPID. Through-out the whole movie, he kept whining about a birdhouse and was a flamboyant "airhead." I think DisneyChannel did this on purpose just to increase his fan base, since he is the least popular.
Demi was an OKAY singer, but not so much as an actress in my opinion. She didn't get to me, even though she was supposed to relate to about a thousand of the girls out there. Alyson Stoner was a better actress than all these people, but thank GOD she didn't sing. If we only heard her voice, she would be mistaken as a chipmunk!
I especially loved the mean girl. She was a bad actress, but her harshness was pumped up a little TOO much, even for DisneyChannel. She was a bitch. I liked her for that. If only she played a bit more better, and toned down the mean a little bit, then she would've been perfect! The other actors were terrible. And the plot was so predictable. My friend basically spoiled the movie ten minutes watching it, and she was right.
The ending made me want to smash the TV right then and there. The last song, "We Rock!" was just a way of brain-washing us into believing that they do, indeed rock. No you do not. You all should be getting Razzies at this point for worst Disney movie ever.
And kiddies, there was no kiss. DisneyChannel also ripped you off for that. Oh well. There's always Camp Rock 2... BLEH!
