Polling from polling companies is dodgy enough without assuming these polls actually represent anything.

Because Cameron was so arrogant, he never thought anybody would vote Leave.  The terms of the referendum were crazy to start with.  50 1 for such a massive change was insane.  It's asking for national division, and that's exactly what happened.  Any other country or one who took the planning of the referendum seriously would have made it a 2/3 in favour to leave.
