The bad news is they also dumped the 140FOV for 20% more than Quest I think he said. Which is about Index FOV.

I think you are missing the point a bit. Oculus and Facebook are about driving users (no doubt to harvest future information etc). I will be intrigued to see how this will affect RiftS sales.
If this is a competition. Its for user numbers and I'm pretty sure that race is run.

Tbh i wasn’t that impressed either. It has to be addressed at some point, definitley and is more important than refresh rate.

But fov and resolution with a good audio solution need to come first.

The rift s failed to address the basic needs of vr. I can’t help but feel they are just trying to run before they can walk.

Yeah I mean oculus’s attachment rate in their Store will now be insane with the quest support for pc titles.

I think the index is far from safe and more just irrelevant. Still no released games

The halfdome 3 is a proof of concept to drive future hardware developments. It’s not intended for a public release. Sort Of like how Formula One developments trickle-down to consumer vehicles.

The Steam Store has undoubtedly won.

But if you think HMD marketshare is the winner over profit or user number then the Rift has a slight edge.

I meant more from an aspect of driving users into VR. If we are talking Steam splits then I would say its 50/50 but don't forget at least 50% of the current steam VR users are Rift owners. At this point of the game we need max push to get people to adopt VR to make it mainstream and push down the costs of hardware.
