Ok so it works on the N40L, my next question is, can I have a RAID setup with the 5 2tb disks going in there or not?

Thanks for this modded bios, it flashed fine!

The ODD connector works as a regular HDD now and comes up as AHCI - but i cannot get it to recognise a drive connected to the eSata port on the back. Is there some trick to this - has anybody here got that 6th drive working?!

I've connected the drive (the same one that works when connected to the ODD) to the eSATA port via a sata-to-eSata cable, leaving the same internal power lead connected - but it doesn't get detected or appear in the Bios - what am i doing wrong here?!

Cheers

That's reassuring to hear - am guessing it must be my cable ...have tried two different ones from flea bay - would seem the £1 ones are a false economy, will splash out on a better looking one!

Thanks

The microserver is INCREDIBLY picky about the esata -> sata cable it uses

Something about too much plastic shielding on the esata end

Some folk have got cables to work by filing a bit of plastic off the end

Didn't work for me though :,-(

Is there anyway to use the pci-e 4x slot next to the 1x slot?  It would be nice to have 3 pci-e slots to use.

Someone in one of the threads (think it was ocau) checked and the x4 slot seems to have a special proprietary pin configuration specific to the  HP remote access card. Won't even turn on with any other card in the slot

Even if it did work the x4 card wouldn't have external access and the x1 would have to be a tiny card

So sadly not an option
