4.7 does not support 3tb  drives. Its better to start on the latest beta as then it will be easier to use 3tb hdd on it rather than risking going from 4.7 to the beta and possibly having problems.

Its very easy to update the program. All you have to do is to backup the usb drive first. Then delete bzimage and bzroot on the usb then transfer the new version bzimage and bzroot to the usb and then boot it up. Leave the licence key alone but make backups of that as well.

Sounds simple, thank you. How do i backup the licence key? Ill copy the entire usb to my pc just incase.

Ive got my usb stick plugged directly into the mobo, i think ill keep it external if i need to keep updating the beta files.

Copying the USB to your PC will back-up the key too. Don't keep the USB external otherwise someone will one pull it out by accident whilst your server is running!!

In the release notes it sounds like I can simply replace the 2 files with the new ones while the server is on, then reboot. This way I can do it over my network as the usb drive shows up in 'network'. Ill give it a go once the preclears have finished.

That's exactly what I did last night, just replaced the two files on the flash and then re-booted the server.

So far so good, I can now access some of the fans on my motherboard and get lots more readings which is nice.

However, I still can't get the system to wake from sleep which is rather disappointing. I know it's most likely the fault of my SATA cards rather than unRAID, but it would have been nice for this to work 'magically'...

The fan noise of my machine is starting to annoy me now if running 24/7. I replaced all fans with Noctua 80mm ones which are supposed to be quiet, but having 6 of them in the case plus the CPU and PSU fans doesn't help to heep noise down. I really need to find a way to get the fans to spin down once the hard drives are asleep. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

When you replaced the files did the version number under //tower change to 5? Mine still says 4.7 after Ive copied the new files over.

Dan, try rebooting, it should then show the latest version.

I tried that a couple of times, no luck. I wonder if I should wipe the USB and start again. If I do that can I just copy the licence key file over then put it back once reformatted?

I noticed that peoples screen shots of their servers show the various hard drives where as mine shows each disk as a share. How do I change it so they show as drives with size and how much data is on them etc?
