It's difficult to answer this question, because for a HTPC those are quite powerful graphics cards. I mean at a push you could literally run a HTPC without a graphics card at all, just using the integrated graphics on the i5 8500K's CPU.
I think to give you a meaningful answer it would help to know why you are thinking of sending the RX580 back? have you been disappointed by the performance in some way?
The RX580 costs about £220 I think, whereas the Vega 64 is more like £390 and the 2060 is about £330... so that's quite a broad cost margin... what kind of budget did you have in mind? The Vega 64 does perform marginally better than the 2060... but then its also more expensive. The Vega 64 currently comes bundled with 3 free games (The Division 2, Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2) if that is a consideration for you. The 2060 is cheaper, almost equally capable and has nvidias new DLSS (basically an arty-farty 3D upscaling technique) and RTX (real time ray tracing) technologies - but these are essentially for games, so if this is just a HTPC then they will be of little value-added. Are you using this for anything other than a HTPC, like gaming/productivity?
The other option would be the new GTX 1660 Ti, it is similar in price (£260) to the RX580 but has about 30% better performance and is a much newer architecture. If you wanted to stick with AMD then the equivalent card would be the Vega 56 (retails at around £265). |
