The movie inspired from the book by Mohsin Hamid lays the context behind the so called war on terror. Describing the story of a Pakistani liberal Muslim in the US and how his life was transformed due to the 9/11.
It shows how he climbed the corporate ladder faster than his peers only to be later brought down post 9/11 due to him being a Muslim. The movie further captures the issues on ground in Pakistan and touches upon the root causes of extremism in Pakistan. Also brings to surface the public secrets on the role of CIA in countries like Pakistan.
The movie also blacklisted from Pakistani cinemas within one week of it's launch due to the movie showing an open hand given to CIA to operate freely in Pakistan.
