My last TV was a 31 inch Panasonic bought around 8 years ago, hasn't missed a beat in that time. But recently my wife whose eyesight is slowly failing has complained about the picture quality, decided it was time for a change, so after researching in Currys, the LG 49 UJ634V seemed to have the best picture in my price range at £649. Unfortunately it was one of Currys exclusive models so I couldn't do a comparison check. I eventually emailed LG to ask if they had an equivalent model with the exact features. 24 hours later I hadn't had a reply, so went back to the Currys store for another look, after browsing around for 30 minutes an "assistant" asked if he could help. So I told him we were interested in the LG & spent the next 20 minutes trying to get a discount or something thrown in such as a magic remote. It was like talking to the wall. Eventually I realised I wasn't getting anywhere, so I asked if the set would show MP4 videos from a memory stick, yes he said, show me I said, can't he said, haven't got one, I have I replied & pulled out my USB stick, put it in he said. He then flashed through the buttons on the remote & the contents of the stick (about 50 of my homemade AV shows appeared on the screen. He clicked on the first on "A Wedding in Spain" which I made from images from one of our grandaughter's wedding. The pictures were stunning, so after 5 minutes, we bought one. It was to be delivered the following Monday. When we got home, there was an email from LG giving me an equivalent model number which Argos sold at £569, bong!!!.
I rang the help line on my Currys receipt, told them what I'd discovered, they said they couldn't match it as it wasn't their model number. So I cancelled the order, & ordered one from Argos for delivery the next day. Then went back to the store, got my credit card payment refunded. The set was delivered Saturday & I'm gradually setting it up. See another of my threads for my first problem with the sound. |
