If hisense can do a 75 with 5000 zones and 2500 nits...150,000:1 contrast.
Note: this tv has lots of issues (8bits dithering,...) but that’s not the point. Even half that number in zones is major at 75 and excellent with lower screen sizes...

Yep, cost and tech too for true qled.
Mini led is primarily used as backlight and is relatively cheap. Just 10 percent more and close to oled cost (much better for bigger sizes)
They have just been lazy selling crap crap edge led all these years. We have to thank LG and hdr for shaking things...
Same with cars, clean emission and electric pushed petrol and diesel into new territories and efficiencies...lazy I told you... money money

Quote from the article...
Where traditional LED backlights incorporate hundreds of high luminance LEDs, Mini-LED backlights are able to incorporate thousands. As a result, Mini-LED TVs offer improved contrast ratios and reduced response time for consumers versus regular LCD LED TVs. They don’t quite match OLED in these categories - but they’re definitely a step in the right direction, and a cheaper one at that.

OLED is better than Mini-LED, at the moment, for Contrast??

Oled has infinite contrast where mini led gets up to maximum 3 million:1 contrast.

That’s why mini led is a step in the right direction until micro led and true qled enter the stage...

Does oled really have infinite contrast? I heard lg were told to prove this. I think its just more of marketing saying its infinite to be fair. Mini led is the way forward and that peak luminance at high brightness levels will make hdr pop more.

As sure as I can be. Because it is binary 1 pixel on and O pixel off
BUT that’s not the point as I would have an Oled by now...burn in aside (which is more controversial than Brexit), a picture is a combination of things...
A fald with micro led can give higher brightness across a wide gamut (not just peak). Mixed with qantum, it is spectacular. At high brightness, oled  loose saturation because of white pixel. This should be improved with coming oled plus qantum.
This is not about Oled versus all the rest as both technologies have plus and minuses. It is just that mini led (and especially micro, true qled) have much greater potential and performance

That’s interesting
But back to mini led, hoping for leaks to start as journalist are usually contacted beginning of Dec for ces.
Looks like this year, we may see mini led applied to 75 inch only...let’s hope I am wrong but looks about right
