Congrats, the connect id is a very good tv with one of the most natural looking pictures, even using the dmm mode i find that it doesn't give movies that soap-opera appearance.

Unfortunately mine developed some issues so i no longer own one but after having experienced the picture and sound quality of this tv it's very difficult to settle with anything less.

Theres a few tvs i'm currently interested in but i'm also looking at the loewe compose or a beoplay v1 tv.

Also if you were impressed with the sound you was hearing at the store theres some settings which improve on the sound even more, for instance in the sound settings theres the loudness option and also the auto speech detection which pays dividends in added clarity and bass.

Also on the picture front when watching hd make sure that the game mode is switched off, it's on by default. Set the picture format to pc mode it does pixel to pixel mapping with no cropping or overscan, turn digital noise control to off, sharpness to 2 and set the colour temperature to soft which uses a 65K preset.

And also make sure that on your bluray players settings the resolution is set to 1080p 24hz.

Once again congrats and enjoy.

Hi Mark,

Sorry to hear you've had problems. What were they, if I may ask.

Regards,Tony.

Oops, thought I'd posted this.

Congrats. They're fine sets. I'm watching more and more stuff in HD now, aided by having the DR  option.

My picture settings are slightly different to Mark's.

Contrast 16

Colour intensity 8

Colour temperature intensive

Brightness 7

Sharpness 3

Dnc off

All the extra processing off. Using the "16:9 PC" format for 1:1 pixel mapping where possible.

Presumably on different sources and with different cables. Bummer. My other thought was firmware but you also seem the sort to have that in hand too.

Did they occur from the start, or several months in?

The first time i noticed this was not long after I sold my amp and speakers, i was watching a few blurays and noticed an odd an sound. I then replayed the same scene and it persisted, I also went as far as to change cables.

It still made no difference, I also chose to ignore it for a while because it happened randomly but after a while it started to happen more frequently.

The final straw was with the too sound and picture dropouts i had.

The thing is whenever i watched movies via my amp i would shut off the tvs internal speakers, so I never noticed it.

Have just taken delivery of Connect ID 46 ... finally upgrading from my Articos 32.

Absolutely delighted - and I really appreciate the settings recommeded by previous posters.

One question I hope someone can help with :- with the Articos, I was able to assign new channel names to the AV inputs (i.e. I could assign meaningful device names to "AV1", "AV2", "AV3", "AVS" such as "PS3", "BluRay", "HDR". "Wii" etc).

I don't seem to be able to change the names of the equivalent inputs with the Connect ID :-

"AV" and "AVS" stay the same
"HDMI1" -to- "HDMI3" change spontaneously to the name asserted by the connected device (doing a quick Google, it looks like it's because of the HDMI-CEC protocol)

Unfortunately the value chosen by my devices is particularly obtuse :- e.g. the name asserted by my UPC STB is "Reference Sw" !

So my question is :- is there a way of over-riding these names to something meaningful ?

Thanks in anticipation

Haven't found a way to change the labels on the inputs on my Connect ID. Hasn't been an option on any of the previous Loewe models I have owned that I can remember.

I've had my Connect ID just over a week now and it is a seriously impressive TV. The picture out of the box is very natural looking with so much detail, holds up well in motion and decent blacks. Naturally I have turned off all the processing apart from the variable backlight.

Audio is very good. In fact it's almost too good some programs sound pretty poor. Predator on Film 4 the other night was impressive with the mechanical whir of the empty mini gun sounding so real. Blu-ray and HD-DVDs sound excellent as does the consoles I have hooked up to the TV.
The TV sounded awfully distant at first but turned out my TiVo was set to output Dolby Digital rather than stereo.

Couple of niggles though the Wi-fi won't connect to my router and if you turn off an input device commands from the remote seem to stop working. And it doesn't seem to like 1080p over VGA from my old UK Xbox 360. Having said that the TV must have decent scaling hardware as the 720p picture from the 360 looks excellent. My Japanese 360 is hooked up over HDMI and looks sensational.

Waiting to see what Loewe say about these niggles on Monday.

Top tip - if you don't live in Germany turn off Hbb TV stuff.
