texecom connect SmartCom installation

Hi all

I have a texecom ricochet alarm I installed a while ago - all running good.
I want to install the SmartCom module and am happy with the instructions.
The only thing it doesnt clarify is - when  I physically connect the wires to the main alarm panel I will obviously be in engineer mode , BUT do I also need to put in commissioning mode ( you do this when you move the connection on the jumpers  - when  you add devices to the system /mesh).
DO i keep in this mode for the whole process? or just the physical connection and then close the panel up and do the programming?

You shouldn’t need to put it in commissioning mode, just install the connections and configure the panel. Be sure you have new enough firmware on the panel to support it.

thanks. delayed now as other problems.
Logged in , used engineer code and gained engineer access , took off panel lid and tamper still went off. Not sure if cleared , panel back on and on entering the engineers code twice in a row tamper alert has gone but I can now log in immediately with the engineers code , whereas before I always prompted to enter the user code first....PIA

If you granted engineer access as a user, it’ll be allowed for a period of time. I think it’s some hours. It’ll eventually time out and work as before.

thanks , what's still weird is that in engineer mode every time I take off the panel cover the tamper alert goes off / redisplays on the keypad.
Until I close the box up and enter the engineer code twice.

Does your panel have areas? You could check the Engineer is assigned to some areas.

hi , it has areas but Ive never split them , unless I did by mistake somehow.
Last week did this , accessed the panel , learnt a new device , no problem.
Cant think whats different.
How do I check the areas thing? I appreciate this might be past your ability to describe on a forum

Start with the system config. After the bit where you choose engineer user (as your system) keep going until you see auto area select or manual area select. Make sure you have auto in there. It should then switch off all tampers etc when the engineer mode is engaged.

Do you use Wintex software? Easier to see some options in there.

BTW, you can normally hook the spring to stop the box tamper. Or tape it.
