A local professional installer has quoted me to install a 5mp Hikvision bullet cam to monitor/record back garden. 2 x 5mp Hikvision dome cameras, one to keep eye on my car parked in street etc and other camera monitoring another part of my garden. 1tb hd with ip system so I can check on phone. All cams are POC.
Supply and install £400

Seems very reasonable to me. Without having model numbers, maybe £200 hardware and £200 labour.

Actually if that includes an NVR with a HD, I would say that is way too cheap if its all genuine HIK Kit

3 Cameras - £210 (£70 each)
NVR Plus HD - £150 (that is super cheap)
£40 quid labour...hmmmm

For that install, including cabling, install and configuration it should have been closer to £600.
I'd want to know where the corners are being cut.

A couple of these would only be £70 a pair: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hikvision-DS-2CE56H0T-ITMF-HD-TVI-Colour-Eyeball/dp/B07F9HJD1G/

Paired with a HiLook NVR it would be under £200 with cable.

Even 3 of those with 3 x PSU's and adapters  would be £150 (they are analogue Turbo HD) so shotgun coax is going to be more expensive than CAT 5e. As it is a Turbo HD camera you would need a DVR rather than an NVR even so, a 5MP Highlook with HD would be £150. That is still £300 for the hardware. £100 for installation and cabling, I dont know any serious CCTV Installer that would do that install, including cabling for £100. As I said TOO Cheap.

X3 cameras...

Agree with mushii. Way too cheap for a pro install. Even if it is achievable, the camera / image quality would be decidedly average. I’ve used cameras ranging from £35 to £150 ish over the years. I wouldn’t spend any less than £80 (depending on use case) as it’s a false economy in my opinion.

Ah, sorry missed that one. Yes, something isn't adding up unless we see model numbers.

It’s all legit
Guy works for an firm alarm/cctv firm and that’s his full time job

He does this on the side (with employers permission) on weekends to earn a few quid more. He came yesterday and went through what he’s doing. He gets the equipment at cost

Ps

All cams are Hikvision POC 5mp
I’m not sure what make the NVR/DVR is
