Update on my issue with the radiator stat not doing anything even though heating was being requested has been resolved.  Support had to change something at their end, it does mean the heating will come on everywhere as my other radiators are manually controller however ill monitor how this goes for the next few days.  If it looks like its not working ill get them to revert the changes and then adjust my schedule to fit better with the main thermostat.

Also they dont support reordering Zones so make sure you install them in the correct order :/

I have a wireless thermostat now that controls my combi boiler but want the Tado to replace it. Currys/PCW sell the Tado v2 Thermostat starter kit (older bridge) but will this work with the extension kit in my scenario or do I need the v3 starter kit?

v3 is only required if you want to connect it to apple home kit. and the v3 refers only to the bridge device (which connects to your router to give you the control via app via the internet) but the actual thermostat is the same in the v2 and v3, the extension kit will connect to the thermostat and work but if its the v2 it won't be able to connect to apple home kit thats all.

Anyone installed a tado thermostat to an underfloor heating system? Any issues to be away of? My kit is arriving on Friday, radiator starter kit, extension kit, 6 radiator thermostats and a normal tado thermostat for the underfloor.

Looking forward to doing something about the terribly inefficient heating in this house.

Paid for installation btw, hope I don't have to wait weeks for that too!

The Nest definitely looks the part but surely Tado's ability to zone individual radiators makes a whole lot better for some?

Hi, I currently have the original V1 Tado.  I am thinking of upgrading to the Tado TRV's which would mean upgrading to the current version, Tado offer a 30% discount to upgrade.  Before I go ahead and order could someone with the TRV's confirm how much noise they generate when they operate, are they suitable for use in the bedroom?

Cheers

I don't think they are noisey at all. I have a Danfoss LC13 zwave TRV in the bedroom, and although this makes a little noise when opening and closing, I don't find it intrusive. The Tado TRV that I have in the bathroom is quieter than the Danfoss. I don't think you'll have a problem. But then noise is subjective!

Installed my 7 TRVs on Saturday and the process was pretty seamless but for one of them being unable to calibrate. Seems to be a unit problem rather than the radiator as another unit worked fine first time.

One issue I have is that I have a Wavin Hep2o underfloor heating system in the main room. Back in November one of the reps told me in an email that I should be able to get someone to install a tado to control the underfloor by wiring "directly to a zone valve".

Now, I have no idea what that means but now that I have a tado thermostat I asked how it could be installed to control the underfloor and I was told it couldn't be. I have gone back today saying that I was told it could be but not heard back yet.

It is a bit of a wild shot in the dark, but anyone here have any suggestions?

Hi,

While I wait the endless wait for Tado support to reply to my query I wondered if any of you had seen any of the following;

- The Link LED on the bridge constantly flashes. The FAQ seems to suggest this is not correct and that it's still in pairing mode, however I don't seem to have any issues with the connection between the bridge and my two thermostats. Can anyone confirm that their Link LED is solid?

- The current temperature in the app (iOS) on the 'main' screen is often different to the current temp that the graph page is reporting.

- The reported temperature often reaches a degree or two higher than the target temp with the heating still being 'on' (flame icon), however...

- The appearance of the 'flame icon' (heating on) seems to bare absolutely no relation to whether the boiler is fired up. I wonder if the boiler is also applying some logic to the situation so that the thermostat requesting heating does not necessarily mean the boiler fires up. They seem to disagree an awful lot of the time. For instance yesterday, the house felt cold, the reported temp was a degree below the target temp, the fame icon was present but the boiler was doing nothing.

- The graph page shows that an awful lot of the time the temperature is constant, not varying by even 0.1 of a degree with the heating switching on and off (whether it actually is is a different matter though). I simply don't believe that the temp in the house is not altering at all for hours at a time. It would be wonderful if true but how the house actually feels does not corroborate the reading.

In spite of all of that, most of the time the tado actually seems to be doing quite a reasonable job of controlling the temp. It's just that the conflicting readouts and heating status gives me very little confidence in the system. I wondered if that reflected other people's experience?
