A lot of questions, with little answers.

I always like starting with positives when I write reviews on movies, because I find it can be too easy to just try to wreck on movies about what they didn't do as well as they could. The movie cinematically was very pleasing to look at. Not anything new or special, but it felt like it I was watching this happen if it actually was happening in the 80s. As far as plot and character development, the movie drops the ball on these concepts completely, and since a movie can't be carried on looks alone and feel alone, this is where the damage of a low rating come in. Not enough time was spent on building these characters for the audience to actually care about and be committed too. The brother of the lead actress has a secondary story line of him being in debt with some "dangerous" people which is touched on twice through the entire movie and then totally forgotten about and not mentioned again. The antagonist of the movie and her sons back story is another backstory quickly briefed over with only little details given to the audience, leaving us to put the story together on our own which doesn't really work for a horror movie; especially when that story would clear up on why her son or her were doing what they were doing to begin with. This movie could have had something if the developing of the characters wasn't so rushed over or it didn't feel completely rushed toward the final act.
