Godzilla is an underrated film. It is directed by Roland Emmerich the man behind mediocre space adventures stargate and Independece day. Some people say Godzilla is his worst film to date well let me start by saying its a hell of a lot better than either of those two. The story is Nuclear tests have happened in France and the radio activity has come of on some of the Lizards inhabiting the islands. Fast forward some twenty years and we learn that a giant dinosaur creature is attacking boats around the globe. It comes to Manhatten were it wrecks havoc and there are quite a few fun sequences along the way. Thats all I will say its vague but I hate spoiling movies. The creature looks cool indeed and 90% of the time the visual effects are of a very high standard. The story is solid if a little simple, but at least it ain't covuluted a la stargate. The acting is a mixed bag however with Hank Azaria and Jean Reno in fine form while Matthew Broderik and Maria Pitillo putting in appalling performances. Some of the characters are unnecessary and annoying such as Harry Shearers Charles Caimen and some of the military guys. The finale is great and the film is on a par with the previous years equally underrated The Lost World Jurassic Park. Its a good movie for kids as it never gets to scary and always remains entertaining, but it also works for adults as Saturday night entertainment. Well I enjoyed it anyway, so sit back don't take it to seriously and you to might find yourself enjoying it to
