What about Ghost Recon shadow wars. I haven't played it but heard a lot of people comparing the games.

Yes that is similar there's also Project X Zone coming soon, which I'm really looking forward to.

Look up Super Robot Wars 1 and 2 for DS, unfortunately the other ones with all the licenced robots haven't been translated/released for the english market.

Not a patch on Advance Wars or Fire Emblem...Ghost Recon is a poor mans copy IMO.

Tactics Ogre was a pretty good TBS and Final Fantasy Tactics was good too, but they tended to be Playstation games.  Still, worth getting on the Vita if folk have one.

On Nintendo handhelds it was pretty much the Advance Wars games  and there was a Final Fantasy Advance game on the GBA which was pretty decent.

You could try Devil Survivor 1 and 2 that's on the DS (or Devil survivor overclocked on the 3ds), the Eu version came out recently but it's kinda bugged atm

I enjoyed Ghost Recon tbh - I love Julian Gollop's other Strategy games (X-Com etc) so this was right up my street.

If you like Fire Emblem then try any of the DS Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics and maybe Disgaea if you can find it. Pokemon Conquest is also worth a look.

Still really enjoying this game. I'm on level 10 after 10 hours of play and I've been doing the side story missions along the way too. Anyone finished it yet?

As above, 26 main levels. I'm on 17 now and have played about 26 hours . Still loving it!

Completed it on normal and bought the DLC's, might give lunatic mode a try after maxing out all the relationships
