I'm on chapter 13 now and have sunk a lovely 19  hours into it.  I've done loads of grinding on champions of lore 1 though and have a pretty formidable side.  Have upgraded all units I can with master seals and most of those are back up to around level 10 or so.

Given that there's 26 main levels, 23 side levels and 25 DLC levels I can see me putting in at least 50-60 hours into this!

Lost Miriel the other day though....gutted!  She was quite well levelled up as a dark Mage as well :-(

Ok, my first DLC level popped up on the map last night. What's the deal with them? Can they be done at any time? Do they help with levelling up and collecting items?

You mean the Outrealm Gate?
The levels are self contained, with their own story/map, and you also get prizes for finsihing them, along with being able to grind out exp on them, and pick up whatever flotsam is going.

Do the enemies scale with your level or do they just get harder as the game progresses.

So you could for example grind for hours on the dlc and then go onto **** the rest of the game.

The champions of lore 1 level is really easy for me now. Can do it in 4 moves just using a couple of characters but I don't get much xp from doing it now.  The in game levels are still a good challenge though.

playing this on hard and it really is a challenge. I tend to try and keep all my characters alive so if one dies I restart. Only on Chapter 7, but had to restart loads on chapter 5. I'm not liking how I have to rely on Fredrick all the time, he's so OP right now.

I bought this the other day off the store.  I'm not usually into tactical rpgs but this game is different.  I've sunk 10 hours into it so far.  I don't really play these types of games so I struggled in the early hours regarding the battle system/tactics and what not but I'm getting there now.

When I first started I choose Classic mode so the characters die when I lose them in battle.  It seems they still appear in the main story arc though?  I can't remember what difficulty I chose, I assume the easiest but is there any way to find out now I'm into it?

About 22 hours in on Chapter 14 now and still loving this!  Luigi's mansion 2 came the other day and despite having a quick go and really enjoying it, it's just not getting a look in until I finish this bad boy.

Can anybody suggest any 3DS games similar to Fire Emblem?
I've only owned the console a couple of weeks and have no idea of the back catalogue

Planning for the sad day that this game ends!!

There isn't really any, apart from Advance Wars on the DS that springs to mind, Dual Srike, or Dark Conflict.
Can't think off hand of anything on the e-shop..
