This was the article I read

Nintendo makes its NES emulator the same way everyone else does

Just says it's an open source distro with soldered memory so your can't Galt do anything with it

Agree totally, I'm probably just a bit too old for the NES to have had any impact, and my impression was that in the UK the Sega systems were more popular, and even then way less popular than the Spectrum and other home computers.  In fact, thinking about it, I'm not sure I have ever even seen an original NES system in real life. I also had a SNES though (quite late in it's life, when the games got a lot cheaper...)  and feel a lot more nostalgia for that system. Would definitely snap up a a SNES Mini.

Thanks, someone has been taking a look at the USB protocol and it appears that holding reset while plugging it in may we a way to access the firmware..

They are an industrious bunch..

Surprised how quiet this thread is, was hoping to read some reviews from people who've got this already (I have one at home, but it's a Xmas present for my brother!)

All the opinions I've read are pretty unanimous, great idea, nostalgia overload, but ridiculously short controller cables and you have to get up to change game or use the game saves by using the reset button.  Also there's no power cable included, so those saving for Christmas it's worth knowing just in case you don't have a spare micro USB charger kicking about

If you've got a Wii classic controller, as well as a slightly longer cable the Home button functions as the reset button, and the USB cable can be plugged into a spare USB on the TV if you haven't got an AC adapter.

Basically this. I ended up connecting to the tv in the office, as I sit about 2 feet from the 32''. Problem solved!

I can add however, that 8 year old Lezman was miles better at these games than 35 year old Lezman. I couldn't get past the first level on Super C [emoji22]

Oh, and the best thing about the whole package is the menu music.
