Upgrading to XBox One S

I wonder if anyone can help as I'm pretty good with AV stuff in general but don't have a clue when it comes to consoles.

My kids have an Xbox one but as we are getting a 4K TV I was thinking of upgrading it to an Xbox one s mainly so I can have a UHD blu ray player.
The kids have thrown a wobbler though as they claim all the progress they've made in games will be lost. Games they play are Fifa, rocket league and Star Wars battlefront..
Is there any way to transfer progress across? Are the other benefits of 4K such that I can persuade them to start again? (Doubtful!)

I think all progress is saved in cloud so won't lose it
At least all games so far have done as did same as what ur planning

It's also recommended to have your games stored on an external drive. That way when you change consoles you don't need to download all your games again assuming of course you have gone digital.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm also considering upgrading as just got a 4K/HDR tele.

Does 4K/HDR make much difference? I'm playing BF1 at the moment.

Ah. I read http://m.uk.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/List_of_Xbox_One_S_HDR_Compatible_Games  here that it did already. BF1 aside. Is HDR worth an upgrade?

Your save games are stored in the cloud, as soon as you start a game ion a different console it will perform a quick sync up. I've got one xbox downstairs and my boy has one upstairs, we can play either and carry games on from wherever we left them regardless of which console we played on.

just done this as have 4k and hdr
only played gears so far and its excellent
so bright with an explosion you need sun glasses

all the games show in the games & apps
ready to install menu
it does take an age to download updates   install them all again

as said above well worth getting an external drive, then just a case of swaping that to the new xbox, and your ready to go

there is a good deal at argos for the blue s with extras ect
