It doesn`t make sense on so many levels, thats why I can`t believe it. It isn`t even in the interest of the store, as the profit on the consoles is so low.

how come youre getting brand new 360's then?
youve said yourself that CC are the largest 2nd hand shops in the world. i also thought you got seconds from catalogues etc like tv's and stereo's etc. i cant remember ever going to a CC store and seeing brand new stuff, ever.
ive read all this thread through and im unsure of it to be honest.
i hope it is genuine for all the people who have got their hopes up, but i feel as though its just a bit of a wind up.

i could be wrong, but thats my thoughts.

Well, if it's true then congratulations to those who got one theirs. I can't imagine this chap asking to come to his store just to mess them around - imagine what 100 angry guys would do to him if he's lying.

The Wakefield Cash Converters sell brand new PSP's so I can't see why they wouldn't do XBOX 360's too.

hi, i got to this page from a m8 in another forum. ive been trying without success to get an xbox 360 after pre-ordering both from game and gamestation with both of them contacting me to say they wont have a 360 for me.
soon as i got told cash converters had some 360's i went down straight away and happily placed my £50 deposit with one of the sales staff (simon i think).
i got told when i ordered that there was only 6 left and that i had definately got one from them now.
thing is i did the same thing the other week at cash converters with my sons sony psp, i put £30 deposit down (skint till payday) and i got a call a week and a half later to tell me that they had stock in and could pick it up.
i got my psp uk version with 12 months warranty, only downside was the firmware 2.0 .

in my opinion they are genuine and did tell me i could get my deposit back at anytime - even if i just changed my mind.

i dont usually buy anything from these places though normally as a lot of the stuff is dear for second hand but at the end of the day when its brand new thats a totally different story. the profit on the 360's will be very low but if you think about it times that by 100 and it soon adds up.

We buy second hand items of value from the public, factory graded items and, occasionally, brand new items.

You are right in that there is very little profit in this sort of thing but from a purely business point of view every new customer through the door is positional a repeat customer, a coup like this if fantastic for us, people are ringing the phone off the hook and there is a real buzz around the shop.

It makes a great deal of sense for us in that respect.

EXACTLEY, the deposits are currently sat in the safe in envelopes, the money will not be “in the business” until the sales go through the till, it would make no sense for us to mess people around, tbh it is very unusual for us to “get one over” other retailers in this respect.

The LAST thing we want is 100 unhappy people with out 360’s!

Your right that we are a franchise, that’s why some stores won’t have them, some will, it’s at the discretion of the individual franchisee.

Yep as the consoles are orderd via our head office, if anyone knows who has got them it should be them!

The cynical side of me is thinking - Franchisee, pulling out or going bust, trying to take as much money for non-existant stock knowing that as a franchisee there will be no liability with head office when he does a runner / goes pop.

The other side of me thinks Good on this branch, they've done well, seized an opportunity and gone with it (and thanks to another poster we know they have PSP's for sale.)

Much as I hate Cash Converters (rip off buying prices, and I live above one and their staff are some of the rudest ****ers on the planet and not nice people) I applaud thi sone if it is genuine.

However, personally, unless I was prepared to write off 50 quid I wouldn't risk it.  After all, IMHO I've never founf a cash converters ye that cared about customer relations.
