Hi all,

I have been following a reasonably strict paleo lifestyle for 4 weeks now and it's been really good, I have lost about 9lbs in that time (I currently need to lose about 5 stone more!) and have not found it too limiting. Trying to eat enough fat is hard. I wondered if anyone here is also having a go at a paleo lifestyle and how they are finding it?

Jason

Me and my wife started this about a year ago or so when a friend who had been on it before was telling us her benefits she had finding.

I have never been big but at 40 was getting a bit of a belly, I have now lost that, and my wife again, never big, lost weight of her legs and bum.

I would say I am now not quite as strict as I was, probably about 90%. We have relaxed a little with certain foods. Still never add sugar but allow the occasional treat, more so when we go out for dinner with friends etc. we also occasionally have rice, and I still eat dairy, mainly milk and Greek yogurt.

Fat wise I do eat a handful of nuts most days, almonds, walnuts, cashew, also avacado are great for good fat and I also use extra virgin olive oil on my salad, again another great fat.

It takes about 4 weeks to really start seeing and feeling the benefits, so hopefully you should start feeling a bit more energised soon to as well as weight loss. Keep it going!

I've found planning and prepping meals will help you stay on it. Bit of alcohol is ok, just try to make it once or twice a week, not every night!

Alcohol was a disaster for me. I stuck to gin with soda and a few ciders. I am a seasoned drinker (lager usually) but I was  like a 16 year old. A complete state and I don't remember the last few hours of the night. I think paleo and alcohol don't mix for me!

Just drink less, a local village has had their annual beer festival going on since Friday. I've managed to get away with only two pints the entire weekend as booze isn't on my nutrition plan.

Yep. Was in ketosis before, managed to knock myself out of it and put 4 lbs on all because of one session on the cider....

Brekkie for me is mushrooms fried in grass fed butter, with 2 organic rashes of bacon and a fried tomato. Eggs are a good option but I don't like them
