Corned beef and potato pie
"Broth" always for new years day, like a soup or stew, carrots, leeks, potatoes, parsnip (probably some other root veg), pearl barley, water (too poor for stock), with a joint of either neck of lamb or shin of beef cooked in the broth. Served on top of mashed potatoes. Lasted a large family days. Drives my wife mad when I suggest having it (it's the serving on mashed potatoes that she can't get), never been able to get it to taste quite the same |
