My Dad was the cook in our house, his specialities were Yorkies and Melting Moments. Taught by his Mum, using recipes from the little Bero book
We hired out his local pub for the wake after his funeral, amongst all of the photos, diaries, all of the little reminders we could find for the family and friends to look through... were 3 huge plates of melting moments baked by my GF the night before from the Bero recipe, just like my Gran used to bake for my Dad and his brother, that they baked for their kids, who bake for their kids today.
There were a few tears and a lot of smiles, 75 years of family history rolled in oats with a Cherry on top. |
