Well, I did my 10k last night and now have the official results.
My chip time was 46:29 which was good enough for 47th out of 253. It was also a PB for 10k. Also, out of the people who did it from my office, there were seven, I came third and considering the first two won the mens and womens, I pretty chuffed with my effort
I had a target pace in my head, but the first section was all down hill and although I was keeping to what felt good for me, I heard someone behind me say "God, we are on for 4:35 pace already". At that point I was thinking, opps! So I did the first 1k in 4:27 but I then slowed to what I wanted to do
Afterwards, I was talking to someone and it was the first time I had told anyone outside of the few people who know what I'm going through at the moment, why I'm doing all of this. Considering what I'm going through and who I said it to, it sort of hit home so it was a bit emotional as well, but in a good way.
Anyway, next month I will hopefully be halfway to my target! |
