Just come across this thread while discussing ordering some more rum with SWMBO. We've tried many over the years, but both agree that this which we discovered last winter is the real dog's b*******! Not cheap, but unbelievably warming and tasty, I can't see us ever buying any other dark rum!

At £47 a bottle I'd measure that out with a thimble .

At 57% ABV you don't need much more than a thimble-full to warm the cockles.

I'm guessing you're familiar with Woods, may I ask how Rumbullion tastes? I just bought 2 bottles of Kracken & one of Woods but I've never heard of Rumbullion before. Certainly looks good...is it worth the extra?

Well, the Woods has no spice by comparison, and I would say that it isn't anywhere near as smooth. Kracken is nearer the mark but it's the sheer intensity of taste that the Rumbullion has that knocks everything else onto the corner. I'm an old cynic, and when I read master of Malt's description of Rumbullion Navy strength I thought yeah, right, but I'm a total convert. Their description is honest and true, but I would add that although I wouldn't normally go for a 57% drink, the Navy Strength has a definite intensity and warmth that the 42% standard version doesn't have. Ultimately we each have our own opinions when it comes to taste, but note that Master of Malt do samples (and I'm not in any way connected with them)!

I see on HUKD that Sainsbury's are currently selling Angostura 1919 Rum for only £23.00 per bottle

1919 is just about the only rum I've tasted that is smooth enough to be drunk neat, although sadly none of my local pubs or off licences currently stock it

Otherwise I'm quite partial to Appleton Estate VX, Pusser's or Mount Gay Eclipse on the rocks or mixed with cola.

Sailor Jerry's goes very nicely with ginger beer - Perfect Storm

The only time I drink white rum is in a mojito Havana Club - The real cuban rum: Mojito Cocktail Recipe but the only bar I've been to in UK that makes good mojitos is Cubana which is conveniently located a short walk from the Waterloo IMAX, on the rare occasions I can actually get weekend tickets for something!

I agree with your mate. Tried one or two brands over the years, then coverted last year to this very smooth and tasty tipple. I have it with Pepsi Max, and a dash of Aldi lemon juice on the rocks.

Probably be a waste of time me trying something as exclusive as "Woods", as I can't abide neat Rum.
