The winningest man in BBQ has a new smoking book out aimed at the home smoker, i'm not won over by the style but there are some great recipes and it covers most of the low and slow bases... Smokin' with Myron Mixon Backyard 'Cue Made Simple

Quick tip please. About to take the food off the BBQ and its about to chuck it down with rain. Do I close all the vents or leave any open. It's too hot for the cover.

If you want the coals to burn out just close the top vent, if you want to save the coals close both.

Yeah want them to burn out. Also just checking if it matters if water gets into the grill?

In my haste to hurry, I just knocked my lid off and chipped it on a paving slab! Grrr!!!!!

Doh hopefully its not too chipped! Mines been left in the rain with the vents open lots of times and didn't cause any issues other than making the grill more of a pain.

Good to know.

The lid is scratched and there is a 1.5cm square chip. Can you get these repaired or get a kit to repair them? (Weber OTP)

Unfortunately IIRC it's a vitreous enamel that's baked on at around 800 deg C.  I doubt there's an easy repair   If there is exposed steel you could try a high temperature paint, but it would be more of a bodge than a fix

Arse. Will see how it fairs. If it starts to rust, I'll get in contact with weber for a replacement.
Thanks

Get a bath repair kit and then spray it.

These kits are two part with a hardener and a filler and are designed for bath acrylic and enamel baths.
