Apparently we are heading for record breaking cold weather for Oct.  Anyone care to bet how many "where is Global Warming" threads we get in the next three weeks?

Totally agree with johntheexpat... Am uè in Scotland and we are supposed to see snow in the next 10 days... bummer

So that turned out to be someone wanting their 15 minutes of fame by talking utter garbage that the media were only too happy to accommodate.

So, the French weather this month has been quite extraordinary.  Over the first two weeks of November, the average temperature is 3.7C higher than average.

Which in some ways is nice.  Sunny warm days and not much use of the heating, can't be bad.  

But La Loire is still 60-70% down on the expected flow of water for this time of year, drought restrictions are still in place, at the end of Oct, farmers were having to water the fields of winter wheat that they had planted.

If this is a precursor to what things will be like if the temperature globally does rise by 3 to 4 C, then basically Europe is stuffed.  France has got through this year by using its reserves of water.  If the aquifers aren't replenished over the winter, then the crops won't get watered because there won't be any water to pump.

Which isn't really a problem for France, they will be able to produce enough food to feed the french,  Exports may be hit though, so countries which import a lot of food may well start to go hungry.  And if that country should be in the middle of a recession and can't afford the inflated prices that would inevitably result, then who knows what might happen?

Of course, for a 3-4 C rise, this would be a normal month, some would be 'better' and some would be 'worse'.  Goodness only knows what a 'bad' time would be like.

But hey, what the heck.  I'm just scare-mongering and Global Warming is an international/Governmental/scientific conspiracy to subjugate the people and increase taxes.

Spent the weekend at St Malo, the beaches there were heaving.  Only a couple of hardy individuals actually in the water, but literally hundreds were out and about lapping up the sun or strolling.  Temperature was about 16C.  Not bad for the second half of November.  The meditteranean coast has been getting a hammering rain wise over the last month or two, but the rest of France is still desperately short of rain.

Jersey (nr. St Malo) is experiencing the second driest year since weather records began 200 years ago, according to the Met Office.
