Also watch if you ever want to sell your house my friend has had a sale fall through as she had 'free' panels fitted and therefore her buyers mortgage company would not lend on the house unless she had them removed!

Myenergy plus is about £100 plus fitting. (say 2 hr @£40hr)

MOD EDIT: Rule 7

So a 4 kW system should be £6k to £7k plus any LED's or Monitoring kit on top

This should include everything scaffold warranties etc etc

Oh by the way avoid Yingli panels at the moment, looks like they may go bust in next couple of months

this is correct obi 1 do not get free solar panels you will be signing your roof over on a 20 year lease to the installer and a new buyer will not get funding to buy that property!!!

This should not be an issue if you use one of the major installers like A Shade Greener as they're contract was passed by the mortgage panel of lenders advisors, as such all lenders should have no problem lending if you've used someone reputable.

Haha no far from it. MOD EDIT: Rule 7

I know the solicitors that drew up the ASG lease and they are a quality outfit (the solicitors that is)

Ive seen the contract and its a solid piece, they specifically spent a lot of time (and money) on making sure that the mortgage panel was well consulted. Not many of the rent a roof mob do!

I appreciate the effort made in your post, and nice to hear from the perspective if a genuine caring installer.

With greatest respect i think your a little harsh to the 'clients' on several levels. Having been through the process of listenning to several sales people, on prices ranging from 3.2k - 14k i can undersand the difficulties from the clients side, i have the great advantage if being a member in here and so sought valuable informed opinions.

I also have the advatage of being of a technical persuasion having worked in an electronics trade for 40 odd years, used to looking at dry bafling specifications, behind and underneath the rocks (as well as between the lines ).

It is natural to want to get a good price, just as it is natural not to want to overpay. If on the face of it two seemingly simular systems are offered thousands of pounds apart, chances are a buyers go mostly for cheapest, possibly the second from lowest price.

The feed in tartif cause most confussion, everything is based on estimated performance with no actual hard evidence offered, so it us difficult to persuade yourself to go for a high end ststem, and natural caution steps in.

This is a long term investment for most buyers, it will take 10 - 12 years to pay for itself, unlike a car it is not so easy to sell on if it don't work out, which could be the case with expensive systems, highest price is no cast iron guarantee of longevity or suitability.

So without any prior experience to fall back on it can come down to the sales persons approach as to if a sale is made. If you want a classic demo, by not switching service providers, especially banks and car insurance's in the blind beleif they will get a good service and price for their many years of loyalty, when nothing is further from the truth with most of them .

It was my conclussion as i'm in my mid 60's, i will be mid seventies before i break even. meannwhile paying a loan off. I decided to keep that 'dispossable income' in my bank to help me enjoy the ladies - while i can still remmember (and perform) how too .

Wow, I didn't think this thread would still be going from when I started it, and I see it has provoked much discussion which is good. I hope it has helped some people out to get the best deal !!

Quick update from me: After lots of discussion with the company we came to an arrangement which was that they would give me a £2000 refund and install an extra 6 panels. So I now have a 3kw system for around £5700, I still think this is a bit more expensive than it should be but I'm much happier now that it is a bit closer to the correct price.

Cheers.
