What, in 5 years, in the mean time the lowest paid losing more money. It was a tax grabbing budget not tax cutting. With the cut in tax credits and the increase in insurance premiums they will be a lot worse off.

Well its given me a modest tax cut according to the Telegraph's calculator.

Another small little nicety of the budget was the changes to MOT - no need now for a car under 4 years old. Works out well for me as I was always change my car circa the 3.5 year mark.

Have you factored in the insurance premium tax rises? So all those low paid workers are paying for your tax cut

Yea probably, a degree is not a key to a land of milk and honey, too many think a degree, any degree and from anywhere will provide that.

Injecting some reality into it is long overdue.

They had every right to go to uni, unless they ever earn enough to pay off the loans it's not their problem is it?

So, it was stupid not to have the fees there because those that can afford to pay will, and those that can't won't pay their loan back - I can't see the loser there? It reduces the tax bill, but allows equal opportunity..

It wasn't that long ago that there were no tuition fees at all, before that the Government paid for them.  It was the Labour Government of the day that introduced them at £1000 a year in 1998.  They were still vastly subsidised until  2012 when the cap was lifted and the full charge was levied on the Students.

So if they are getting back 45% of them now, that's not such a bad thing.
