I didn't say I don't feel sorry for the parents. But GOSH and the judge have been going out of their way to be compassionate to them and meet them in the middle, while they have been calling them evil, liars,  putting up obstacles to their wishes, etc, and not appearing to understand how ill Charlie is and what the treatment the US doctor suggested could actually do.

We need to be careful here Alf, as it seems that their is a mix of things the parents actually said and things filtered through and embellished by lawyers, and media types - and we are not sure who exactly said what at this point.
Certainly it appears there is some evidence, at least from the statement by Charlie's Father that Alasdair Seton-Marsden has been acting of his own accord in making certain statements and taking certain actions - either through misguided beliefs or self promotion (or a mix of both).

Very interesting comments from his father.

The media in this country can be such dicks. The stuff coming out of the US has been even worse though.

I should have added that he was asked to read one statement but only when the parents couldn't hold it together, after that is when he appears to have gone rogue.

Inevitable but still sad.

Here's hoping it was painless and that his parents can find some peace.

Hopefully the parents can fade into the background now and deal with the sad passing of Charlie.

RIP little man

Dr Michio Hirano has tried to hit back at a claim of financial interest saying "... I have relinquished and have no financial interest in the treatment..."

I can't help but wonder who paid for him to fly to the UK and if not self funded , how much it cost.

Guessing they'll be on GMTV and in all the sh*tty magazines within a month or so, plugging their new foundation or some such bollocks.

Very sad case but even sadder that their circumstances are not unique and didn't need such an embarrassing media frenzy. Hundreds of parents are faced with decisions like this every year. I hate myself for saying this when they lost a child but the whole thing has made me feel extremely cynical. From the pouty-face photos with heavy eyeliner, to the endless press conferences. Maybe they have been played by the media...who knows.

All this money wasted which could have been put to better use than buying the next supercar/holiday/villa for a load of lawyers.

Sorry, I know this makes me come across like a bit of a dick, honestly I really am sorry, but none of us should have ever heard of a poorly little boy named Charlie Gard in my opinion.

^^^ I can't help thinking the same thing, so call me a dick too ... but the dad always seemed to turn the swagger up to eleven for the media. Even though he seems to have turned on their (non-)spokesperson Alasdair Seton-Marsden, a lot of that nonsense did still come out of his mouth, so seems like a PR clean up.
