Just Googled Afua Hirsch, and sure enough she has been through an identity crisis. To quote her..
But being African is an increasingly complex identity. As someone who has been told she is too black to be British, and too British to be African.
Which is all well and good but why confuse that with being blatantly anti British and wanting to pull our statues down. She says she has now moved back to Accra Ghana.
Afua Hirsch: Our parents left Africa – now we are coming home
In fact the irony is she lives about 8 miles from where I am writing this today. But I'm not going through any crisis, just a bit of R&R and a few beers. |
