The thing is though Russia isn't going into our airspace only going near it to test our response times which NATO does exactly the same thing to Russia.

As for the hacking well every government does it so why are Russia getting singled out for it? As the Snowdon files revealed the West is no angel when it comes down to this

Also as a friend said to me what if Russia made a deal with Ireland to base troops and an anti ballistic missile screen there? What would the UK response be to that? Look at the US response to Cuba. Is it any wonder Russia feels threatened and surrounded and to a degree the same with China?

The problem is its the West actions with forcing NATO up to the Russian borders and trying to force regime change on countries that is causing a lot of these issues with Russia. If the roles where reversed im sure we would be doing something similar.

With todays result in the election your more likely to see some meaningful co operation on Syria now. That or Trump will wash is hands of it.

And again with the press coverage over this cruise missile strike coming from the Russians, go back and watch the Iraq War 2 and the shock and awe footage. Large scale cruise missile assault on a city by the US. So can somebody please tell me what the difference is? Lets not forget the that Syrian Government has asked for Russian support in taking on these groups.

Russian MiG-29 fighter jet crashes in Mediterranean - BBC News

A Russian MiG-29 fighter jet has crashed into the Mediterranean Sea as it tried to land on the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, the country's defence ministry has said.

The pilot ejected safely from the plane, the ministry said.

The Admiral Kuznetsov is part of a group of Russian warships recently deployed near the Syrian coast.

To be fair to Michael Fallon he only said that we would be ready to fight a war in 2 years.
He didn't say that we would be ready to win a war with Russia in 2 years.
I am not sure what preparations you need to make to be ready to lose a war (Production of white flags? Survival bunkers for Defence Secretaries?) but it is reassuring to know that this country is making those preparations.
