It seems a sledgehammer response by him for admitting to once  touching a female journalists knee, it only begs the question what more allegations from others towards him are to follow.

But even if that’s all there is to it , my guess is Theresa May probably asked for his resignation anyway.

He says this sort of behaviour was acceptable 10-15 yrs ago but not any more ? Personally I don’t think it ever was and that saying so detracts from any class he has shown by resigning.

It’s almost as bad as Spacey choosing that moment to come out. Very cynical attempts to mitigate what they have done.

Maybe he once shook hands with a young female researcher 20 years ago, the old perv. The poor girl has been receiving trauma counselling ever since.

It does seem an over reaction, especially as JHB said that it should not be made into something bigger than it was.
I am sure there is more to his resignation than this one incident.

There may well be a pattern to his behaviour and if women come forward with more knee touching stories or worse ? That would have damaged the Government massively. Go early to avoid the pain kind of resignation. However this sets the bar very low to resign from a ministerial post. Ain't nothing like a sleaze scandal in Westminster to bring a Government to it's knees.

It was Gav the assassin who suggested Fallon be asked to resign, and then he proposed himself as his replacement.

These people are either reading the signals incorrectly or as I suspect they are abusing their position and semblance of power, similar situations crop up in the NHS between staff members.
Boundaries can be blurred but in some cases it's just plain non-consensual assault.

In the expectation the current scandal goes away. His ultimate goal ? Becoming Prime Minister.

His behaviour may have been acceptable 10 to 15 years ago, he says in his non contrite resignation interview.  Actually don't think it was, and believing this just undermines the problem.
How they howled when Fallon was often described as the safe pair of hands, not anymore!
