Why do you think another vote would settle anything?. The SNP are not going away even if they lose again.

A similar situation was seen in Canada regarding Quebec. A vibrant independence movement has effectively been nullified after three unsuccessful referendums. People questioned the approach at the time but it has seemingly been very successful from the Unionist perspective.

Annoying a Memberstate is not in our best interests. We'll have to keep quiet until a Trade deal with the EU is ratified. Then we can let rip.

If the Brexit vote hadn't happened, then the SNP wouldn't have had an opening for attempting Indy Ref 2. The situation has changed, round 2.

It's more to do with long standing historical differences between the two sides and the Eurozone crisis opening a gap up for an Independence vote.

Listening to the protesters against indepedence on the news today two things struck me

If there are so many against Catalan independence why didn't they vote in the referendum.  I know they will argue that the referendum was illegal so there was no point, but if they had voted and the result was to stay unified then Puigdemont would have had to accepted the result.

And they were calling Puigdemont a dictator and that he should be imprisoned - kind of ironic given Spain's modern history.

As someone with a mild interest and connection to Catalonia, I support their right to independence from Spain. Let's just hope that what ever happens, it happens peacefully and without any violence.
My father moved to Catalonia and spent the remainder of his life there and his ashes were spread out into the bay at Canyelles.

Because some people would still not vote so you help the other side by giving them a 55/45 win. 90% clearly doesn't say anything apart from the fact the result is meaningless and the vote was illegal.

It sounds to me that the region is split 50/50 so which ever way it goes a lot of people are going to be unhappy and it's not like they haven't taken up arms before, calm heads needed.

Why on earth would anyone who was against independence vote in an illegal referendum? You'd just be giving legitimacy to a bunch of cowboys in suits attempting a coup. Makes no sense at all.

What happens next is that some rich people will try to get even richer whilst lot's of poor people will probably have their blood spilt

I'd like to think we'd be executing them rather than locking them up. It's a coup for fudge sake.
