In the Arabian desert, it was the custom to keep your females protected from other tribes and theft. Islam and new laws about dress codes were strictly enforced (like ISIS) when Saudi was created. They still are, by the way.
There are so many other Islamic countries where the code is quite different.
I worked in Pakistan in the early 90s and the dress code was moderate.
However, I do see that Pakistani families are now adopting the Saudi Burqa in Britain, even for school children, which I do not agree with. |
