1. He was in a car. You can hurt people with a car. See Lee Rigby.
2. He could have provided a distraction. Got out, shouted, whatever. The bad guy's aim was ultimately the Houses of parliament. You don't think some kind of delay wouldn't help? Get out the car, shout, then get in, drive off, whatever.
3. The bad guy had a knife. Not an AK or an RPG. There's only so much you can do with a knife.
4. An MP did run to the scene. If they are braver than you there's something wrong. I don't think the MP was armed.
5. He's not you. You might not choose to put yourself in danger. He is still in the police. He also has a QPM.
