...and also as a religious group, hence my question about why giving a definition for hatred towards people of Islamic faith would make them “special”?

Legally defining actions against people of a specific faith wouldn’t make them “special” it would give them the same legal defence/support that is already given to others.

Back to the other point, you responded to the rather depressing survey results from Conservative Party members to say that people from that demographic, who aren’t Con Party members, could have the same views.  Which demographic were you referring to?

I have no problem conflating Islamophobia with racism. I'd even call it that in India now with Modi's (Hindu nationalist) BJP govt viewing Indian muslims the same as (Muslim)Bangladeshi or Pakistani immigrants, who a senior minister referred to as termites.

The Islamophobic organisations in the west are the same old neo-Nazi/white nationalist/supremacist organisations. So conflation isn't unfair, despite the usual defensive retort of those people, "but Islam's not a race".

Of course, the same demographic as you posted ie the one the poll was based on.

So just to repeat my point. Let’s say we ask vegans the same set of questions and we get similar results. Do you conclude that vegans because they are vegans, are a sad lot? No.

Hence, why I said that the results might not be specific to Tories. They might be similar for the same demographic, in other parties. Clear?

The consistent grouping from this particular set of people asked was that they are all current members of the Conservative Party.  Sadly, it appears that your consistent response to the apparently racially motivated answers is deflection to Labour, generic demographics and a suggestion that Conservative members may not be the only ones who would answer like this?

Disagree. Of course we would make a Islam a special case if we introduce special laws for that particular religion. We should have same laws covering all religions.

And I think we have put antisemitism as a religion to bed. That comes under race hated.

Antisemitism covers both the religious and racial sides of Judaism, it's all-encompassing.  If you read the IHRA definition, there are references to both religion and race.

Now what a world we would live in when we go after our own and at times shut down debate and target individuals and whole parties .

And yet  we continue to  get into bed , support , trade and deal with the likes we try to expunge in our own society .

Is that what's known as  hypocrisy?
