I'm getting 52.5% from several sources e.g:

Soubry should not even have stood at the last election on the Tory manifesto - she has been vehemently anti-Brexit since the beginning and to stand was IMO dishonest. If she wasn't prepared to do what her employers told her to do she should have bowed out.

Maybe she is just plain dishonest, but if it means she's on QT less often I'm in favour.

Her constituents and constituency party knew full well where she stood, yet she was still reselected and held the seat at the general election.

Chuka had added a personal codicil to the Labour manifesto for his election campaign, so his constituents knew exactly how he wasn't on message with JC.

The parties would spin it the their way if they needed to keep the mp. Labour are really trying to get rid of the one that fibs.

Pretty much what I was going to say.

Regardless of her beliefs, the party manifesto or the referendum, the election granted her the mandate to represent her constituents in parliament on whatever campaign promises she made.

I know what you mean, but surely if any Lib Dems left one party to leave an essentially identical new one that doesn't have the baggage it would show that it was purely for career reasons and not for personal political beliefs?

I personally thought the Tory/Lib Dem coalition was no bad thing as it meant the Tories were in power but reined in by the Lib Dems.

The best I can see of them is being like a UKIP.  Have a single policy that a lot of the electorate agrees with, gain popularity, actually get a lot of votes but never really enough to make much impact in a first past the post system.  Get the other parties a little scared.  But ultimately fade away as voters see them as a ‘wasted vote’.

Not so sure on that as I don't believe we have seen the last of MPs defecting as yet . They have as many as the Lib Dems at this point and the latter is still trading .
