I have been reading this forum with great interest, some of the comments have me baffled, for example the Dude saying owning a beemer series 7 makes you upper class, that is utter crap in my book I owned one which cost £88,000 new I paid 20,000 for it because I wanted a nicely engineered car, I own a very expensive meridian hi-fi and apple computers adorn the house, but I say to the Dude I was a fork truck driver most of my life so definitely working class, I retired at 60 due to a heart attack due to living a working class life, and too many cigs and too much booze, I worked damned hard and played harder, but I like the nice things in life and worked hard to get them, so putting people into a certain class by what they own is a false way of looking at it. I have met lots of very rich people whilst on holiday in the caribbean and they are mostly very down to earth people, when I was young my mother said to me everyone has the same chance to make something of themselves if they can be bothered and I still believe that. |
