Finished Before I go to sleep yesterday, one of the best debut novels in a long time.

Going to start Hunger Games next.

So i finished Mockingjay, the 3rd Hunger Games novel and i wasnt expecting it to end that way.

I found the first one quite difficult to read, but do persevere with it because it does pick up a lot in the 2nd book.

I find this with most King books, except his short stories, but once those first hundred are out of the way i am completely hooked.

And i have started A Dace with Dragons Part 1, and i am loving being back in Westeros.

Finished The Hunger Games which I thought was a really good read, light but very enjoyable, have now bought Catching Fire and will probably start that today.

Well I finished Under The Dome, and thoroughly enjoyed it, although I found the ending to be not as fulfilling as the actual story, but I often find that with King books; he does such a great job of actually building the story and the characters, that the end can be a bit of an anti-climax.

I've also read "Why I watch people die" by Barry Graham, which I got as a free download from Amazon, and it's a very honest, compulsive read, if sometimes a little uncomfortable.

Next up should be The Wind Through The Keyhole, the latest Dark Tower related novel from Stephen King, which arrived from Amazon this week, but unfortunately, the Wife has whisked it away, with the intention of giving it to me for Fathers Day.

So instead I'm going to read 'Fifth Avenue' by Christopher Smith, which was another Amazon freebie. I know very little about it, but it had some reasonable reviews, so I'll give it a go.

Really not enjoying "The Gunslinger". It's just like it's trying to be too fancy with itself, I just find it annoying to read and lose interest after a paragraph or two. 60% in and I can't wait for it to finish.

In a hurry this morning and realised that I had almost finished The ABC Murders. Just picked up another Agatha Christie (Crooked House) on the way out the door.

Just finished reading Replay: the History of Video Games

Fairly interesting read, but on whole felt it missed out on loads of different titles.

It briefly mentions Gears of War in passing to another game.

It also spends a fair amount of time about arcades, which is good, as that's where a lot of gaming started, but it felt rushed at the end.

On the Kindle it finished at 67% or thereabouts, as the rest was basically a bibliography of games.

Now reading Trafficked: The Terrifying True Story of a British Girl Forced into the Sex Trade by Sophie Hayes on my Kindle.

Only just started it today but I think it must be quite brief as after an hour and a half, I am 36% through, and the poor woman has been forced into prostitution.

The fella who forced her into it, basically seduced her for over two years via the phone and texts.

Quite harsh the life she was forced into.

As the antithesis to this, I am listening to Kevin Smith's, Tough Sh*t: Life Advice from a Fat, Lazy Slob Who Did Good on audiobook in the car.

It's making me laugh a lot, and I actually want to get stuck in traffic to hear more of it.

I feel your pain,  but the books do improve vastly once The Gunslinger is out of the way.  For such a short book i found it a major slog and difficult to keep up with

I'm on Iain M. Banks's "Surface Detail" at the mo (interrupted by the Hunger Games trilogy previously!), excellent Culture book so far. Just hope he doesn't fluff the ending....

Re. The Dark Tower series: The Gunslinger was a bit of an "experimental" book written in his youth. If you're reading the updated one - and you should be if you're tackling the whole trilogy - then he hasn't cleaned it up too much. The subsequent books are very much "King Proper" and are much easier to follow.

I envy all DT "virgins", I had to wait for years after book 3, you'll see how frustrating this is when you get there
