Why don’t saloon cars have rear wipers

My XR3i had a rear wiper. Helped me see the people who were kind enough to push it.

At a push on rear window I can see. But never again on the front or side windows. Significantly reduces the operability of the windscreen wipers, and can cause significant invisibility on the side windows as per above.

Just maintain clean glass is the solution, but granted many people seem to like it.

I'm sure that lots of the JDM Subaru's that get imported over here have a rear wash/wipe system on non-hatch / estate variants.
