My experience over many decades of driving has been that if you stay within the posted limit x 1.1, you won't get flashed (or nabbed by a camera in a van). That doesn't mean it absolutely can't/won't happen but, as general rule of thumb, that's a safe maxim to follow.
I too have seen a flash on the M42 when nobody appeared to be speeding which I surmise is an automated action to remind people that the cameras are on.
I know that the speedo on my car is 100% accurate, at least at speeds below 40, because whenever I pass one of those speed readers, mine always matches exactly the displayed read out on the sign. Either that or they're both mis-calibrated to exactly the same degree (which I doubt). |
