The chap i use for my mapping is not a big company with massive overheads or in a rush to get on with the next job, he is a perfectionist that loves doing what he does, he is also very knowledgable when it comes to diesels, in fact was one of, if not the first in this country to crack over 300 horsepower from a 1.9 vw tdi lump and currently runs an Audi A4 3.0TDI which is producing 440hp and 900nm of torque. He doesnt give you a rolling road print out as his mapping is on the road mapping in real world conditions however he told me my 150 hp bora would be around the 200 horsepower mark so when i got the chance i put it on the rollers and got 200.9 hp, my friend that had is 170 hp golf tuned by him was also told to expect 200hp and got just over that. Also I have vcds and do my  scans myself and if anyone is telling you it takes an hour to do 2 full scans then there having you over.

Ok so you do you own scans; check there is that time gone. And yes I have my own vcds and two VAG cars. I think you are a little economical with the truth or have very few options (this modules to scan). Get your laptop ready, get the cables ready, plug the cables in, startup vcds, ensure ignition is correct, establish connectivity, enter the meta data, make a backup/enable the log. And that is just before you begin the scan of the modules. The. Review the output, check any potential errors, look into the modules, clear out any codes. And that is before you begin any work.

So now you are saying that is actually not included you do it yourself. Fine.

And now you are also saying this totally bespoke and unique to your is made on the road with no rolling road at all.

Flipping heck pal, have you read what you just wrote.

I’m not saying it can’t be done, but come on you don’t test out a fully bespoke map out on the road.

I’ll take back what I said previously, that £360 is starting to sound very expensive now.

My friend is the manager at shark performance in Nottinghamshire. They are specialists in VAG. They remap and rolling road.

They have a very good reputation indeed. If I’m not mistaken they had a collaboration for DTUK petrol tuning system to get to a stage 2 solution. It’s been a while for that one as well and I haven’t kept up with subsequent developments or partnerships between the companies.

That,s fine, your happy with your mapper and im happy with mine, i have provided a dyno print out for proof and no i didn't do any scans for my mapper. Oh and the bora is still in use to day with well over 220k on the clock and still going strong, if you don't think my mapper is up to it just search for him on the net.
And just for the record i dont believe any quarter mile times or horsepower figures until i see them in black and white.
Also like to think i know a little bit about tuning cars, built a nissan silvia s12 back in 2007 with a budget of £1200 and managed to finish 24th out of 117 entrants....

I’ve never said that the car is sh*t.

What I am challenging is this fully bespoke map part, especially without a rolling road and doing it on the road. As I said if that is truly the case then you have had a bargain.

However by admittance of the previous post it doesn’t really sound like that at all to me.

We weren’t discussing particular vehicle dyno runs. So why provide that in this thread. It was merit of remap box or écu remap.

I find it very hard to believe that anyone can provide a fully unique remap for so little money. But hey great deal if you can get it.

I know exactly who you are talking about @badboy1, used to work with him and he remapped my Mk4 when he had his. Went like stink but not a patch on his. One if the most knowledgeable people I've met regarding VAG engines, especially diesels. I'll be getting him to do my VRS at some point.

If the car is a manual, remember to budget in a clutch. My fabia vrs clutch didn't last long after the Revo remap.(the remap was great though)
Also don't believe the claims you will better mpg-you won't.

My Golf was remapped on 120k. I had it for another 50k without any clutch issues. I also used to cane the hell out of it and still averaged 47mpg, obviously that was indicated but I never properly checked.
