Hi guys, looking at getting my motorcycle license but it all seems so confusing to do with ages/engine sizes.

I'm 21 years old, had a car license for over 3 years.

Does this mean that I could do a CBT and I'd be able to ride up to a 500CC/35KW (46.6 bhp) for 2 years. At which point I could do a full test and be able to ride any size bike?

No, CBT will allow you to ride a 125 for up to two years before having to re-take the test, as you are 21 you can go for direct access after the CBT and take your full test on a 500 then you can ride any bike....

Bike licence laws changed this year and you now need to be 24 for Direct Access:

Yea I was going to say - they changed.

I think it's far more progressive now in the sense that if you want a more powerful bike then you'll have to re-test every couple years.

I did not know that, I'm glad I did it when I did then! tbh I don't think I would bother these days what with the stupid price of new bikes etc.......
