I started with a bandit, although un restricted as I'm a little older, great bike very stable and reassuring and made me smile with the power, the biggest negatives are the bike snobs saying it's the worst bike ever, ignore them and have fun,

Just sold my bandit for £2000, was a 2004 with only 7000 miles, not a single biy of rust, so base prices around that for you.

I wouldn't call a Bandit 600 the worst bike I've ever ridden, a Harley Davidson 883 Sportster wins that particular booby prize!
My problem with the Bandit is that Suzuki wanted it sold at a very low price, and it was built with cheap components.
The brakes and suspension are budget items, and it shows to an experienced rider.
But for an inexperienced rider, it might not show.

Do you mean you have to pass mod 1 & 2  then the bike still has to be restricted?

Abit harsh if you pass your test then the gov still says you carnt have a full power bike

I personally think it's a great idea, pity the same thing doesn't happen to car drivers.

I'm not sure it's a great idea, but I do agree it's unfair motorcyclists have to go through this and car drivers don't.
If we have to have staged licencing, so should they.

Have you had a look at a Honda Hornet 600? Similar ish styling to the bandit (i think hornets look better) but a much lighter, and imo, better handling bike. Same engine (slightly detuned) as the cbr600s of the same age.

Here's a pic of my old Hornet. Comes as standard with big single headlight, bought it with twin dommies on which are rubbish and was soon changed back to standard. Had so much fun on this bike, if I had the spare money id have another in a heartbeat as it did everything, toured, hooned, commuted.

Hmm, that Hornet does look quite nice, and yes even if I pass the two parts of the practical test I still have to be restricted. This is for two years, after which I'd have to take the test again(££££), pass and then, I can ride any sized bike. My other option is to wait until I turn 24 and do 'direct access' which is the same two tests, except as I'd be over he age of 24 I'd be able to ride any sized bike.

Waiting until I'm 24 was my original plan, but seeing as at the moment I'm 21 and 7 months, that leaves over 2 years on a 125...

Just had a look at insurance for if I had a bandit and full license, cheaper than renewing my CBR 125 will be in july, i'm guessing due to having full license rather than a provisional
