There are sets of wheel woolies on ebay, £35 with free delivery.  Really tempted, as my white alloys are a ***** to keep clean

A new vehicle will require minimal work, as the paint should be in excellent condition, but if the vehicle has been stored anywhere, may need a deep clean.

Waxing in sunlight is pointless, as the wax hardened and you need arms of steel to remove.  As you say, wait til its cooler and overcast.

what about something for your tyres and trim..... would recommend either maguires endurance gel or gtechniq t1 for your tyres along with an aplicator

maybe a quick detailer spray for after washes too?

what colour's the A6 going to be.... by my eyes theres a definite different finish between a sealant and a wax and would be worth trying at least one of each to see which is preferable to yourself

I was very pro wax for the guts of 20 years as a top coat untill I got an A3 in condor grey just over a year ago.  I tried a number of different waxes including 4 different sample pots of dodo juice (to apply I did prefer the purple haze though) and it just looked a bit blah untill I tried a zaino sealant..... to me it looks much better and also on my dad's silver jag too than any wax..... they also seem to stay cleaner looking for longer compared to when they had wax on them.  Although it's supposed to be the opposite for darker cars where a wax would generally look better.

Also couldn't recommend that gtechniq glass sealant you have listed highly enough for both safety when driving and ease of cleaning, just read the application instructions on detailing world first to avoid any potential problems.... applied it around a year ago on two cars and its still going strong on both

I hadn't thought about tire trim, but you're right!

An earlier recommendation for Tech Wax 2.0 had a video for application on a black car.

Geez, this is getting more expensive than AV equipment, and going to take just as long to get right in the set up/application!

You could also try Wet Glaze 2.0 if you fancy a wet look finish to the paint

I used to like the results using tech wax (i wasnt heavily into it just liked keeping my car clean)

had one around 15 years ago for a short time and have been tempted but don't think I could own a black car again..... near impossible to keep clean but when they are cleaned up they do look great

wait 'till you start looking at polishing machines with pads and polish for them in a year or two

For a new car, what would be used to provide some protection to say the black "plastic" radiator grille?
