My son is scared of our new car (never had that problem with the previous one). He will never get too close on his own, he will only approach with me holding his hand (not my missus).
On the other hand, he loves this car. He looks out of our livingroom/bedroom window very often just to see if it is still there. He won't go to sleep, until I show him the car is still there and tell him that the car is already asleep. Only then he will go to bed.
He is scared to get too close and when I put him in his seat he shakes a bit, but when inside he loves it. He is calm, enjoys every second of driving (we often go for a drive just two of us) and usually laughs aloud.
It is a love-hate relationship.
He likes to keep the distance.
