I try to be as easy a viewer as possible, but as a professional historian, there are historical "facts" that prove for me major stumbling blocks. In this case the show lost me the moment they mentioned someone being burned for witchcraft in colonial America. A single word "burned" meant I just couldn't overcome my disgust at shoddy history even in a fantasy show. Had they said "hanged" it would have been fine, but no, they went for the common misconception of "burned" and lost me in an instant.
No one was burned for witchcraft in colonial America because under English law witchcraft was a felony rather than a heresy. No one said this show was meant to be historically accurate, and I accept that, but furthering this erroneous belief is another nail in the coffin of America's faulty historical perceptions.
So easily fixed and so carelessly wrong. Too bad.
